MONICA GETS THE BEST REVENGE.

Monica Lewinsky is finally getting back at Bill Clinton.  She wasn’t his first youthful conquest, but she may have ended up being his last.  Yes, their relationship was consensual.  But he was the president of the United States and she was a lowly, 23 year old, unpaid intern.  Balance of power was heavily weighted, and he should have known better.  But now, she’s produced “Impeachment.” a television show about what really happened, and it isn’t pretty.  Finally, Monica gets the best revenge

The entire episode got me thinking about the incredible charm of sex offenders.  So many successful, talented men have been outed as abusers, that it makes you wonder if it  goes with the territory.  According to psychologists, many CEO’s of large companies are narcissists.  That’s because they  don’t have much regard for anyone but themselves.  Since  they happen to be brilliant, they’ve figured out how  to charm a crowd.   They  know  exactly  how to manipulate people in order to get their own way.  And because they’re so cocksure of themselves, they don’t have performance anxiety. .  And in the end, they become super stars.

Woody Allen is the next  person who comes to mind.  I truly believe his daughter’s accusations of sexual abuse.  But, on the other hand, I have watched every single one of his movies, and enjoyed them thoroughly.  His creativity and talent are a fact.  Does that excuse his behavior?  Not at all.

Next comes Matt Lauer.  I don’t think I’ve watched the Today show more than once or twice since he got kicked out for his blatant sexual abuse of young female staffers.  What he did is deplorable, but yet, he was a great host and the show has never been the same since he left.  Do I wish him well?  Of course not.  It just makes me mad that someone that gifted would have such a dark side.

It goes on and on.  We never missed an episode of the Bill Cosby show. And he was a great comedian.  He was also accused of assaulting numerous women.

Harvey Weinstein was a convicted sex abuser, but he produced great movies.  Remember when Meryl Street declared him a God during her famous Oscar acceptance speech?  He could be the most charming man in the world—except when he wasn’t.

But in the end, all of these men got their just desserts.  Their talent and ability couldn’t save them.  Finally, like Monica, their victims got the best revenge.

DEMS HOUSE DEVILS, STREET ANGELS

We’ve probably all had at least one house devil, street angel in our lives.  It may have been a parent, sibling,  spouse, or boss.   They’re charming when in public.  So much so that we often have to hear how wonderful they are.  But having lived or worked with them, we know better. We’ve seen them lose control of their temper and take it out on others.  We’ve endured their verbal or physical abuse.  And yet, at the end of the day, they still have their followers who think they can do no wrong. Bloomberg and Klobuchar were Dems House Devils, Street Angels.

The most famous House Devil, Street Angel  is Harvey Weinstein, recently convicted of rape and facing the rest of his life in prison.   Does anyone remember Meryl Streep accepting an Oscar award in 2012?   When she said “ Harvey Weinstein is God,” in her acceptance speech?  We have to assume that she didn’t know he was a sex abuser,   He may have known better than to cross the line with such a talented and respected actress.  But can you imagine how all of his victims felt when they heard her say that?

During the past month, Democrats Amy Klobuchar and Michael Bloomberg were popular presidential candidates.   When you saw them in the debate mode, they appeared composed, smiling, and charming.

In Klobuchar’s case, her former employees went on record as saying she was a mean boss.   For years, she reportedly was abusive to her employees—throwing things at them, and making them pay back their parental leave when they returned to work.  Once, when on an airplane, she berated a staffer for bringing her a salad without a fork, and proceeded to eat the salad with her comb. Uck.  That’s not just nasty, it’s dirty and disgusting.  Why couldn’t she have asked a flight attendant for a fork?

Several lawsuits have been filed against Bloomberg for his mistreatment of  female employees. As an example,   Bloomberg yelled at a woman who was complaining she was having a hard time finding a nanny for her newborn.  The lawsuit claims that he yelled at the employee during a meeting: ,“It’s a f—— baby! All it does is eat and s—! It doesn’t know the difference between you and anyone else! All you need is some black who doesn’t even have to speak English to rescue it from a burning building!”

It’s amazing that these people, like so many others in public life, are able to command respect from any voters at all.
